Short Film Festival Set Aug. 17 at Clatskanie Cultural Center
Clatskanie Cultural Center’s Birkenfeld Theatre will host an independent short film festival on Saturday, August 17.
Organized by filmmakers Ray and Migdalia Etheridge, the event will showcase 26 short films, produced by independent filmmakers from across the United States including several from Oregon. Genres include comedy, horror, drama, documentaries and animation.
The public is invited to two showings at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., with the doors to the Cultural Center, located at 75 S. Nehalem, opening at 12:45 p.m. Different films are scheduled for for each of the two hour showings.
Many of the films contain adult language or subject matter, and are therefore not recommended for children.
The festival received nearly 100 entries, and films with the highest judging scores are being shown. Awards in various categories will be presented after each block of films.

A 30-minute-long film, “Long Beach,” by Clatskanie native Scott Hildula will be shown the night before the festival at the Cultural Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, with the film beginning at 6:15 p.m., followed by a question and answer session with Hildula. (See separate story for more details)
